Overview
The Electrocorder SR-1R is a single-channel solar irradiance recorder for measuring solar radiation at proposed or existing solar PV and solar thermal sites.
Use it when you need to measure solar irradiance at a location over time. The SR-1R records irradiance using an EC-SP-110 pyranometer, helping assess solar resource, compare site conditions and support PV or solar thermal investigations.
Best for:
- Solar irradiance monitoring.
- Assessing proposed PV or solar thermal locations.
- Comparing solar conditions across sites or periods.
- Agricultural, horticultural and renewable-energy studies.
- PV investigations where irradiance alone is required.
Consider another model if:
- You need PV output as well as irradiance, where the PV-3 is more appropriate.
- You need DC voltage and current without irradiance, where the DC-3VA may be a better fit.
- You need only DC voltage channels, where the DC-3V-RS may be simpler.
What you get:
- SR-1R logger.
- EC-SP-110 pyranometer, USB lead, 12 Vdc power supply, carry case, battery, user instructions and free Electrosoft analysis software.
- A dedicated irradiance logger for solar site assessment and solar condition monitoring.
Set up the logger in Electrosoft, position the pyranometer at the measurement location, connect power and start recording. When enough data has been captured, connect the logger to a PC by USB and use Electrosoft to view, save, export and report on the results.
Applications
Typical applications: The SR-1R is intended for solar irradiance studies where the sunlight level itself is the measurement of interest.
What the SR-1R records:
- Solar irradiance using the EC-SP-110 pyranometer.
- Irradiance up to 1,500 W/m2.
- Solar radiation trend data over the selected averaging period.
- Evidence for solar site assessment, PV planning and environmental studies.
Why constant sampling matters: many instruments only take periodic snapshots. The Electrocorder continuously samples throughout the averaging period, helping capture short events, changing loads and trend data that can otherwise be missed.
The logger can record for extended periods using the included power supply. Recording duration also depends on the selected averaging period and site setup.
The pyranometer should be positioned so it represents the solar conditions being assessed. The logger is simple to operate after setup in Electrosoft, but sensor position is important for meaningful results.

Features
When to choose the SR-1R
Choose this model when the requirement is solar irradiance measurement rather than full PV electrical output logging.
Compare with related Electrocorder models
If PV voltage and current need to be recorded alongside irradiance, consider the PV-3. If the investigation is about DC voltage/current without irradiance, consider the DC-3VA.
Key features:
- Single-channel solar irradiance recording.
- Uses EC-SP-110 pyranometer.
- Records irradiance up to 1,500 W/m2.
- Useful for PV, solar thermal, agricultural and horticultural studies.
- External 12 Vdc power support for longer monitoring.
Measurement note
The SR-1R records irradiance only. It does not record PV voltage, PV current or generated power.

FAQ
What does the SR-1R measure?
It records solar irradiance using an EC-SP-110 pyranometer.
How is SR-1R different from PV-3?
The SR-1R records irradiance only. The PV-3 records irradiance, DC voltage and DC current together.
Can it help assess a proposed PV site?
Yes. It can record solar irradiance over time to support site assessment.
Does it measure generated power?
No. For PV output and irradiance together, consider the PV-3.
What software is used to analyse the data?
Electrosoft PC software is used to configure the logger, download recorded data, view graphs, export data and create reports.
